In an effort to reduce incidents of sexual violence in women's penitentiaries, Alanco Technologies has released a new component called PSD-II for its TSI PRISM radio frequency tracking system.

PSD-II is a belt worn by officers or staff equipped with a transmitter. If the belt is removed, the tracking system will instantly perceive and record the incident.

Moreover, if an inmate accuses a guard of improper behavior, the TSI PRISM system can be used to verify the whereabouts of the staff member and how long he or she stayed in a particular area, says Alanco CEO and Chairman Bob Kauffman. As a result, the system can be used by investigators to discern whether a claim of abuse is genuine, he says. Kauffman hopes that when leased to state agencies, the system can reduce operating costs at women's correctional facilities.
