The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SC DOT) has
subscribed to SourceConnect, a centralized online supplier
information service for public-sector purchasing and contracting
agencies, to support its vendor, contractor, and consultant
sourcing, pre-qualification, performance monitoring, and selection
activities. SourceConnect is operated by Achilles Information,
Inc., in partnership with the National Institute of Governmental
Purchasing (NIGP).
SC DOT maintains more than 41,500 miles or 65 percent of the
state’s roads, ranking the agency the fourth in the nation in
terms of road miles maintained. The Construction Division, which
oversees all state highway construction and maintenance projects
over $75,000, will rely on the service to support the
pre-qualification of contractors and to track and monitor their
performance. In addition, SC DOT’s Procurement Office will
use SourceConnect throughout the procurement process.
“[This] will present us with a wider range of vendors to
include in solicitation notices and provide more accurate and
up-to-date vendor information that our buyers can use when
determining vendor responsibility,” says Norma Hall, CPPO,
CPPB, Director of Procurement. “Having better quality
information at hand will help the agency mitigate risk, improve
results, and add strategic value through the procurement and
contracting process.”
SourceConnect is available on a subscription basis to all
NIGP-member, public-sector organizations throughout North America.
The online supplier management solution provides organizations with
access to shared data about current and prospective suppliers,
contractors, and consultants who seek to do business with all
participating agencies.
