The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc., (NIGP)
has announced Florida's Miami-Dade County Department of Procurement
Management as the recipient of the Pareto Award of Excellence in
Public Procurement. Under the leadership of Director Miriam Singer,
Miami-Dade County's Department of Procurement Management (DPM) is
the first and only county in the nation that has qualified to
receive the Pareto Award. The award requires a rigorous review
process, including a multi-faceted self-study, and an on-site
assessment and evaluation conducted by a third-party Peer Review
Team. This international award represents the highest form of peer
recognition that can be bestowed upon a public agency for
outstanding achievements in public procurement.
Additional awards were presented during NIGP's Annual Forum held in
Tampa, FL, August 5 to 9. For a list of 2006 Innovations and Best
Practices Award recipients, visit: www.govinfo.bz/5966-312.
