London-based multi-channel distributor Premier Farnell's Chicago-based Newark division has received a 2009 Spend Management Excellence Award from Sunnyvale, Calif.-based supplier network Ariba. Spend management solutions use Web-based technology to align organizations, processes and systems to analyze, source, contract, procure, pay, manage and continuously improve global supply. Those improvements help businesses, organizations and governments achieve their strategic objectives.

The division was recognized onstage during a special awards ceremony at Ariba LIVE 2009 World Tour in Chicago on May 19. “The 2009 Spend Management Excellence Award winners each demonstrated unique leadership, vision and commitment in applying leading-edge spend management solutions and techniques,” said Tim Minahan, Ariba's chief marketing officer. An independent panel of judges selected the winners. “We are very pleased to receive this award,” said Dianne Kibbey, global head of portals and eProcurement, Premier Farnell. “Through our business partnership, we have raised the bar on the capabilities and services we can offer to our mutual customers that are driving spend management.”
