Redmond, Wash.-based Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) has announced a state and municipal purchasing contract award with the Staples, Minn.-based National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA).

The NJPA serves 31,000 governmental agencies, public and non-public educational systems, and non-profit organizations. Under the four-year contract, Terex AWP will be the NJPA's exclusive source for aerial work platform products.

"Working with the NJPA is a unique opportunity to increase the exposure of Genie products," said Rusty Pugh, government sales manager for Terex AWP. "Our products will be able to reach a broad audience while providing a shorter lead time at competitive pricing. We look forward to working with the NJPA and our Genie dealers to provide world-class business solutions to government agencies, school districts and non-profits nationally."

NJPA allows participating government agencies to reduce the cost of goods by leveraging their combined purchasing power. "Traditional bid proposals cost an agency an average of $8,000 to complete; this is simply a better way of doing business," Pugh said.

"Government agencies view contracts as a cost-effective manner to procure equipment," said Greg Haglin, NJPA contract manager. "Contract purchasing is increasing at a very rapid rate within local and state government purchasing. The speed to acquisition and cost are the absolute drivers."

The relationship between Terex AWP and the NJPA will be managed by the Tampa, Fla.-based Federal Contracts Corp., which will monitor the bidding nationwide, advise Terex AWP of opportunities, address questions or concerns, assist dealer sales in quotations and establish training programs.
