Helping governments and industry preserve bridges is the central cause of the New Rochelle, N.Y.-based Bridge Preservation Association (BPA). Until Sept. 30, BPA is offering a discount on its membership fees.

Established in 2008, BPA plans to provide resources to advance knowledge for preserving and maintaining bridges through outreach, research, education and public-private partnerships. The BPA supports research and education for government and industry professionals in the economical, safety and performance advantages of bridge preservation, which includes activities that aim to prevent, delay or reduce bridge deterioration. Bridge preservation activities do not entail structural or operational improvements of an existing bridge beyond its originally designed capacity and life.

The mission of the Bridge Preservation Association is to advance bridge preservation and maintenance practices, procedures, products and technologies that help stakeholders, including industry representatives, consultants, academia, agencies, contractors, and any other experts, enhance bridge performance, extend their service life and increase public safety.
