The Kansas City, Mo.-based American Public Works Association (APWA) has announced its Top 10 Public Works Leaders of the Year for 2010. The award, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, is the capstone of APWA's National Public Works Week celebrations, said APWA Executive Director Peter King.

Each award recipient has been recognized at a local event and will be honored during the awards ceremony at APWA's 2010 International Public Works Congress & Exposition in Boston, scheduled for Aug. 15-18. "These public works leaders are nominated from across the U.S. and Canada and selected by a committee of peers," King said in a statement. "The award recognizes career-long professionalism, expertise, service and personal dedication to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve. They represent the best of our profession and are worthy of this high honor."
