To maintain legacy applications while supporting newer ones, MXGE motherboards are compatible with both older and more recent expansion cards. Each comes with one PCIe x16 slot, four PCI (5V) slots, one ISA slot and one dual-function slot for either of the latter two cards. Also included are six COM ports, four USB ports and two gigabit LAN ports. To achieve mid- to high-range computing power, the MXGE has 1 gigabyte of DDR2 RAM (supporting up to 3 gigabytes) and is available with either a 3.4 gigahertz Pentium or 2.1 gigahertz Core 2 Duo processor. Its standard Windows XP operating system can be upgraded to 32- or 64-bit Windows Vista operating systems.
