Solar-powered light increases safety at bus stops

By installing stand-alone OmniLight at bus stops, transit agencies and municipalities can enhance the safety of bus riders and drivers. The light helps passengers feel more secure while waiting for buses, plus lets bus drivers more easily see waiting passengers. Each lighting fixture includes an ADA-compliant pushbutton, along with a sign that radiates high-visibility light emitting diodes (LEDs). When passenger pushes the button, the light stays on for 15 minutes, illuminates a bus schedule, and signals that the passenger is waiting at the stop. If light is needed for more than 15 minutes, an individual can push the button again. Even on cloudy days, OmniLights solar panel charges its onboard batteries. The fixture is ideal for areas where electricity is not available or would be prohibitively expensive. Operation requires no trenching, transformers, meters, or electric fees. Made by Solar Outdoor Lighting, Inc., headquartered in Palm City, FL, OmniLight joins a complete line of solar-powered lighting for brightening remote areas, streets, parking lots, parks, walkways, and other sites.
