Six models make up the John Deere G-Series of motor graders, which are often used by government agencies to clear snow. All feature steering wheels, automatic differential lock, programmable automatic shutdown and security-code keyless start. Each model is powered by a Tier 3 engine with net horsepower ranging from 185 to 275. Event-based-shifting transmission software is included to make gear transition smooth. Users can choose either the console-mounted industry-standard control pattern or armrest-mounted fingertip controls to operate the grader. Graders are built with either a front- or mid-mount scarifier or a rear ripper/scarifier, as buyers specify.
