EquipmentManager and Product Link remote asset-management system will be equipped on most of Caterpillar’s new core, mining and industrial machines. System will be a standard feature in the U.S. and Canadian markets. EquipmentManager/Product Link system provides asset management, maintenance and health information required by managers to effectively manage their fleets. EquipmentManager is a secure, Web-based application that uses key indicators from equipment such as hours, location and diagnostic codes to identify events that require attention. Application delivers information in a meaningful and actionable manner. Using satellite technology, Product Link is the hardware that enables information flow between onboard systems and EquipmentManager. EquipmentManager/Product Link system will be phased in beginning with wheeled hydraulic excavators and articulated trucks and will be incorporated into remaining machines throughout 2008.
