The company has introduced two flux cored, austenitic stainless steel electrodes for welding. SelectAlloy 312-AP has a metal composition of 30 percent chromium, 9 percent nickel and 0.1 percent carbon. It produces a two-phase weld metal with substantial ferrite in an austenitic matrix and is used to weld dissimilar metals, such as carbon steels to stainless steels high in nickel. SelectAlloy 316H-AP is composed of 19 percent chromium, 12 percent nickel, 2.5 percent molybdenum and a carbon content of 0.4 to 0.8 percent. It is used to weld Type 316 stainless steel, and typical applications are found in the pulp and paper industry, chemical and textile processing equipment, furnace parts and parts exposed to marine environments.
