The SureLife cartridge calculator is a Web-based cartridge selection and service-life estimation tool for respiratory protection users. The calculator interface allows direct browsing and searching by chemical name, CAS number and chemical formula. It provides access to a library of contaminants and their service-life data. The program calculates a “smart” safety factor based on customized inputs to account for different environmental parameters, and it can be edited to set an estimated percent of uncertainty for each variable. The calculator also provides exposure limits, synonyms for the hazard, unit of measure, boiling point and a link to the “NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards.”
