Mobile DHS (Department of Homeland Security)-certified law enforcement courses are available to state and local agencies around the country through the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT). Instruction is offered at three levels: awareness, performance, and management and planning. Awareness courses are designed to train disaster respondents in recognizing and reporting a potentially catastrophic incident, and in investigating events involving hazardous or explosive devices. Performance courses instruct how to take action after a catastrophe, including safeguarding at-risk public, and rescuing and decontaminating victims. Management and planning courses focus on constructing and coordinating effective recovery plans after man-made or natural disasters.
