Digi-Key, a Thief River Falls, Minn.-based distributor of 3M products, will expand its 3M MicroTouch offerings by adding 17- through 32-inch wide-aspect-ratio screen sizes to its existing ClearTek II touch-system product set. The company also will begin offering the ToughTouch II ruggedized touch-system product.

The MicroTouch ClearTek II touch system is a line of surface-capacitive products that is available in screen sizes from 6.4 to 32 inches. The line performs in a wide range of operating/storage temperatures, and offers exceptional surface durability, according to 3M. Wide-aspect-ratio touch sensors now are available to fit popular wide-screen LCD displays.

The ruggedized MicroTouch ToughTouch II surface-capacitive touch system is suited for vandal-prone and harsh environments, thanks to 4-millimeter glass that has been laminated to the back of the touch sensor. The system is an impact-resistant version of the ClearTek II touch system, plus it complies with UL 60950 safety standards for impact breakage and is IP66/NEMA 4-sealable against liquids and other on-screen contaminants.

“In response to the increasing trend for wide-screen LCDs in a variety of market applications, adding wide-aspect ratio ClearTek II touch sensors to our product set will enable our customers to continue to count on MicroTouch products to meet their interactive needs,” said Mark Larson, Digi-Key president and chief operating officer.
