Heat is both generated and retained with the company's passive solar heaters that are disguised as vertical blinds. SolarChoice Heaters hang on windows or glass doors, drawing cool air into the bottom of each vertical blind. The air travels up along the solar-heated aluminum cores and re-enters the room at 120-140 F. The blinds have a 1.7 R-value (thermal resistance measurement), comparable to the 2.0 rating of many double-glass, gas-filled windows. They can be attached to any standard head rail, and are available in nine colors for the interior side of each vane.
