Slab-edge building insulation

The R-10 thermal-resistance-rated EnergyEdge system can reduce energy loss along a building's uninsulated concrete slab edge between 8 and 24 percent, according to the manufacturer. As an alternative to wooden form boards, the EnergyEdge system employs PVC rails, snap-on braces and expanded polystyrene insulation. The materials remain in place after construction, eliminating the need for stripping and replacement. The rails are available in 12-foot lengths and can be cut using standard building tools to form a perimeter for the construction of the slab. Compatible with various foundation types, the EnergyEdge system contributes toward Energy Star Ratings, LEED points and NAHB Green Building Standards.
