Heat Mirror glass insulates through a thinly coated film, suspended in the middle of a glass unit, that reflects heat back to its source. Different films provide varying levels of visible light and solar control, and can be used with different types of glass, depending on desired levels of insulation. R-20, one of the manufacturer's Heat Mirror glass products, uses three suspended films to create four insulating cavities between two pieces of low-emissivity coated glass, resulting in an R-20/U 0.05 heat retention value. All Heat Mirror glass is designed to save energy while retaining the traditional look and function of windows. The viewing and daylight visibility properties of traditional windows are fully retained.
