Dampney Thurmalox 250 solar collector coating absorbs and retains heat. The coating can be applied to solar panels with a spray gun or brush. Once dry (30 minutes after application), the coating collects more heat than ordinary black paint by selectively absorbing wavelengths with the highest heat content, according to the company. The black, silicone-based material is designed to withstand repeated thermal cycling and resists out-gassing up to 400 F on flat, glazed metal panels. The coating also resists weather exposure and UV degradation and is available in aerosol cans, gallons or drums.
