The 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor FFV offers a 250-hp. V8 powerplant designed to run on E85 (blend of up to 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline), regular gasoline, or a blend of both. Onboard sensors and computers monitor the fuel mixture to optimize performance. Ethanol boasts one of the highest octane ratings of any transportation fuel; cleaner fuel lines and injectors than gasoline; reduced fuel-line freeze-up due to moisture-absorbing capability; safety in storage, transport, and refueling because it is less flammable than gasoline; and reduction in pollution and use of foreign oil. Options include factory-installed ballistic door panels; chemical fire suppression system; all-speed traction control, front-seat side airbags; and remote keyless entry. Awarded the 5-Star crash test safety rating from NHTSA. Also met 75-m.p.h. rear-end crash tests without fuel-tank puncture. Earns EPAct credits for fleet purchases.
