Tailgate Buddy, a 3-step ladder with optional handhold, fits compact or standard pickup trucks. Mounts on driver or passenger side of tailgate. Automatically adjusts for height of particular truck. Provides easy access to supplies and other cargo in truckbed, plus makes loading and unloading safer and less stressful on workers back and knees. Also prevents injuries caused by workers jumping off the truckbed. Consists of 1-in.-sq. aluminum tubing, with 10-in.-wide, skid-resistant steps. To exit truckbed, worker descends steps backwards, using handhold. When in use, base of ladder rests firmly on ground, even on rough terrain. For transport or storage, ladder folds and rests covertly inside tailgate interior. Can be locked in place by simply locking trucks tailgate. Also removes easily for cleaning.
