The GPS Fleet tracking system combines GPS technology, two-way satellite communications, intelligent modems and a web-hosted application to enhance mobile fleet management. The system tracks vehicle position, direction, speed and other telematic data for user-specified events and reporting. Data is sent via the Iridium satellite network to the fleet system's central web server, permitting dispatch centers to securely log in and monitor the vehicles' location, movements and status. The federal Department of Homeland Security's Office of Detention and Removal has successfully used the system. According to the manufacturer, the system can improve asset utilization, safety, security and productivity.
