The KeyWatcher system, consisting of modular illuminated cabinets with built-in keypads, protects and tracks keys for organizations with many access points and/or personnel, such as transit agencies. To remove a key from the cabinet, users must provide a PIN and, if administrators desire, secondary identification (including a fingerprint, magnetic-stripe or proximity card). When integrated with an existing access-control system or the manufacturer's KeyPro software, KeyWatcher will link to PCs via IP connection to relay key removal/replacement times and each key's current status (including who has it, if removed). If tampering occurs, alarms sound from the cabinet and/or speakers throughout the facility. Up to 2,000 user codes can be assigned for each cabinet, with corresponding data for each key stored in an identification chip and retrieved once it is removed from its slot.
