The company's standard Type S and NB steel and aluminum roof hatches conform to high-velocity hurricane zone standards in Miami-Dade County, Fla. The hatches have welded corners on both the curb and cover, and perimeter gasketing for weathertightness. Heavy-duty slam latches ensure that the covers remain closed under extreme conditions. Bilco's tests on its products included high-pressure uplift and downdraft cycling, large missile impact and water intrusion.
