Playworld Systems, a Lewisburg, Pa.-based manufacturer of recreational equipment, will award grants for its action-packed NEOS play structures.

Each NEOS structure boasts an innovative design that integrates electronic gaming technology into four columns, equipped with interactive sound and buttons. The buttons light up in random sequence, depending on game selection, and provide an exhilarating new way to play outdoors. With nine different games and three skill levels to choose from, NEOS offers competitive and challenging fun while improving agility, balance, fitness and social skills.

The first grant was awarded by Playworld to the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Public School District, which sought to add intriguing fun to playgrounds. The school recently adopted a student wellness policy, designed to promote and protect each student's health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity.

The grant program now seeks another round of entrants, and all applications must be received by March 31. Participants are required to submit a short essay (400 words or less) about why they believe NEOS could improve their respective community. The entrant also is asked to provide a photo of where the installation would be located.

Applications must be submitted online, through Playworld’s Web site: http://www.playneos.com/howtoget/grants.asp/.

Award determination will be based on the intended use of NEOS and the community's need. Playworld will notify award winner in April 2008. A list of awarded communities will be available via e-mail upon request.
