Joseph Feldstein, manager of Pittsburgh-based MSA’s fall-protection technical services, has been honored with a distinguished service award from the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), a professional safety organization with 30,000 members.

The ASSE Charles V. Culbertson Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service in 2007-2008 recognizes Feldstein’s work on the ANSI Z359-2007 Fall Protection Code and his service since 1999 as chairman of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC94/SC4. The Culbertson Award recognizes select ASSE members whose volunteer service has helped advance the occupational safety, health and environmental profession.

Feldstein has 18 years of experience in fall-protection product design and standards development. He is an officer or member in seven safety and fall-protection groups, and holds a bachelor’s degree in physical sciences from Colorado State University.

MSA manufactures safety products that integrate electronics, mechanical systems and advanced materials to protect users against hazardous or life-threatening situations.
