Wanted to say "atta boy" to Fred Marks on his article on visiting clients (Client visits help to tear down barriers, October/November 2009). Central Stores hired a bright young man last spring for our inventory specialist position. One of the terms of his employment is that he do just that, get in the field and see who does what, how, and why. It seems to be successful so far. I also need to get out of the office and visit a bit more, per our boss's directive. This is a part of trying to expand our services to the end users, the various departments within the city, by better understanding what they do and how we can best serve them.

Who Were the Past Pareto Award Winners?
I enjoyed reading the article on the Pareto Award (Hillsborough County, Fla., earns top honor, October/November 2009). It would have been nice to include the other five agencies that have obtained this award. I know first-hand how difficult it is to obtain this coveted award. I worked for the City of Naperville for six years.
— Marcia E. Amos, CPPB, C.P.M., Purchasing Manager, Village of Lisle, Ill.
Editor's Note: The complete list of agencies that have obtained the Pareto Award are listed in the "NIGP agency accreditation" in this issue.
