Private-Sector Grants to Help Local and State Entities Implement GIS and GPS

ESRI and Trimble have announced the 10 winners of the Mobile Government Grant Program: Coastal Communities Edition. The grant program has been established to help government agencies create models for the development and implementation of innovative GIS and GPS applications.

Software, hardware, and training grants totaling more than $96,000 will go to 10 state, regional, and local governments within designated coastal communities. The recipients include:

Indian River County, FL, Coastal Engineering Dept.

Collier County, FL, Environmental Services Dept.

Milwaukee County, WI, Sheriff's Office

New York City, NY, Dept. of Parks and Recreation, Capital Projects Division

City of Ocean Shores, WA, Public Works Dept.

State of Georgia, Dept. of Natural Resources, Coastal Resources Division, Ecological Services Section

Curry County, OR, Assessor's Office

City of Wilmington, NC, Public Services Dept., Stormwater Services

State of Maine, Dept. of Conservation

City of Alpena, MI, City Engineering Dept.
