Scout and Shuttle vehicles recently completed a
test run along the Spirit of Prescott, a historic stagecoach trail
that runs from Prescott to Phoenix, AZ. The event was part of a
technology experiment to see whether the addition of solar panels
would help the vehicles complete the 100-mile journey, without
requiring battery recharges. Both vehicles successfully completed
the challenge, and the Phoenix Childrens Hospital benefited from
dollars pledged for each mile reached. Each vehicle was topped with
2, 24-v., 150-w. solar panels, which connected to the on-board
battery pack. Scout multi-terrain utility vehicle features 8, 6-v.
batteries and travels up to 18 m.p.h. Options include cab
enclosure, front cargo rack, dump box, and rear wrap-around bumper
with hitch receiver. Shuttle electric vehicle caters to golf
courses, airports, arenas, and other expansive sites. Seats 4
people, with additional room for carry-on luggage. Runs on 6 or 8,
6-v. batteries. Travels up to 15 m.p.h. Options include windshield,
luggage rack, and cargo rear seats.
