The prototype design is ideal for small to mid-sized county jails requiring 96 to 144 beds, and capacity can be expanded to house 350 beds.

Designed and constructed by The Facility Group, based in Atlanta, the jail can be completed in as little as 14 months. The facility is equipped with an array of security features to ensure safe and efficient round-the-clock operation.

For enhanced surveillance, the jail allows clear, unobstructed sight lines from the control room into each of the four 24-person housing pods. The plan is organized around this control room in a radial manner to allow visual control of areas within the four housing pods, two outdoor recreation areas and all associated activity to and from these areas.

The new jail reduces staffing costs by efficiently using manpower during jail operations. The jail’s clear and straight-forward floor plan allows one staff member to visually supervise 96 inmates at once in a safe environment for both staff and inmates alike.

The Facility Group’s Justice Division provides comprehensive planning, engineering, site selection, program management and design/build services to municipal, county and state criminal-justice agencies. Since 1986, the firm has handled the design and/or construction of nearly 500 criminal-justice projects, ranging from minimum- to maximum-security facilities in rural or urban settings to detention centers, courthouses and sprawling public-safety complexes.
