Under the 24-month contract, Liberty will supply an estimated 58,000 megawatt-hours of power to the Texas community annually. Beginning in October, Liberty Power, which is an independent retail electric provider, will supply electricity to power the city’s traffic lights, street lights and government facilities including the local police station and city hall.
The contract was awarded through a competitive online auction facilitated by Worcester, Mass.-based World Energy Solutions. Liberty was selected from a total of 63 competitive bids, not only because of its low-cost offer, but also because the company was able to provide summary billing – the preferred method of billing for many municipalities.
“We are very pleased with our recent agreement with Liberty Power. Liberty Power was able to meet all of our requirements – to provide us with a low-cost, fixed-price contract, give us the budget certainty we need and deliver an easy-to-understand summary billing format,” said Danny Jackson, the city of Waco’s engineering administrator-facilities.
Liberty Power is licensed and certified in 15 states and the District of Columbia, and by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
