The Indian Health Service Electronic Dental Record Implementation Support contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options and a contract value of more than $16 million if all options are exercised, according to the company. Work will be performed at SAIC sites in San Diego and San Francisco, at government facilities in Albuquerque, N.M., and at Indian Health Service facilities across the United States.

Under the contract, SAIC will implement an electronic dental record system that interfaces with other Indian Health Service health care systems. SAIC will help ensure operational success by providing program management, quality control, certification and accreditation and business-process engineering services.

“We look forward to installing this new system in more than 200 [Indian Health Service] dental clinics across the U.S.,” said Tom Baybrook, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “SAIC understands [Indian Health Service’s] responsibility to provide a comprehensive health delivery system for American Indians and Alaska Natives and looks forward to providing quality services to help them accomplish that mission.”

The Indian Health Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has an annual appropriation of approximately $3 billion, according to its Web site.
