The Department relaunched travel.state.gov, the consular affairs website, on Friday, March 16, 2007, at 8:00 a.m. EDT. The redesigned site has a new look and feel that allows users to easily find information about international travel, passports, and visas.
The website is even more user-friendly, with quicker and easier
access to the most popular pages on the site, and expanded listserv
and RSS (really simple syndication) subscription services so users
can stay current on the latest changes to consular
information.
The Department invites the traveling public, both businesses and
individuals, to visit the redesigned travel.state.gov site before
planning their trip out of the country. We will continue to provide
the American public the most important and accurate information on
conditions they may encounter, and the rules and regulations that
will govern their travels abroad.
Travel.state.gov is the Department's primary vehicle for
updating the public on travel information and travel safety in
other countries. The site advises the public of hazardous
situations, current travel requirements, and other safe travel
tips. Visitors can download application forms and information
brochures, fill out a nonimmigrant visa application in several
languages, order publications, register their travel plans with the
State Department, and more.
The website has received over 250 million hits since it was
first established in 2004. For examples of the kinds of information
available at our site, check out:
